[ She bites through the popsicle like they're chips, holding the chunks of ice in her mouth while she shovels. There is a straightforward answer to everything and as long as she doesn't trip and pierce her throat with the popsicle stick, this is fine ]

I hate shoveling snow. [ HE HATES SNOW. IN GENERAL... ]

[ Mafuyu loves snow. Snow means no school, it means sledding and ice hockey and snowball fight and especially shoveling snow. ]

I like it! I used to do this when I was a kid too! The neighbors would give me a quarter if I cleared out their yard and driveway and sidewalk!

I think a pack of gum is like 60 cents usually - but okay. Want to go nab some more chores, or are you tapped out? Hey, are you shooting for any of those prizes, anyway?

[ Man, inflation really sucks. But the best thing about gum is that you can chew on it for weeks if you really want to/have no choice because you're a broke five-year-old, so that's the choice candy. But now? She's not exactly swimming in money, but there are things she can do to get out around paying for things she wants, like charity chores. ]

Let's do more— all of them! I'm going to turn all my tickets in so I can get that nerf gun! What prize do you want?

[ They can get back to the community center to get their assignments, use the kitchens that are normally reserved for cooking classes, and stay in that general area to go through their list in order ]

I don't think nerf guns are on the prize list. I think one of the dinners or museum passes?

We should make gingerbread spaceships instead.

Dinner and museums are lame prizes when there's nothing good to eat and museums aren't very fun... But gingerbread spaceships would be cool! We can stick a bunch of birthday candles on the end like rockets and light it on fire and everything!

[ BURSTS INTO THE KITCHENS, OKAY. Her experience in the kitchen is largely watching other people cook, but she's confident they can make this work. ]

They can be fun with other people. Also, that sounds like we might burn shit? But we can like, cut out rocket boosters and frost 'em.

[ She'd like to think candles are pretty safe since even little kids use them in birthday parties, but the allure of bright red frosting is too strong. ]

We'll make it work! Let's see what ingredients we have to work with...

[ She bounds over to the fridge, trying to remember what goes into cookies but falling short of flour and... chocolate chips? really, what does go into cookies... Shes's saved from having to think about that, though, she her eyes light up and she pulls out a wrapped ball of gingerbread dough that was probably some other team's hard work, but if there's no name then it's there's now. ]

Here! We just gotta roll them and cut them into rocket shapes!

[ Yes and they're going to be proud of it anyways, because frosting can cover everything. Mafuyu lets Dave handle the dough while she finds canned frosting and dumps them into a bowl and squirts in ten little bottles of red food coloring, their ship is going to be so red. ]

Have you baked cookies before? Do we put it all together and then bake it and we're done?

I have, yeah. And, uh, we mix it together in the order the instructions says pretty much - I can do the gingerbread, don't worry.

[ FROSTING IS HARD TO FUCK UP so she can do that ]

It shouldn't take that long to bake, either. Mostly because, like, I can speed the process along via some well-applied time travel, but.

[ Yes! She knew Dave is reliable, leaving her free to stand back, hands up, give him space to do his thing. ]

Do that! Do the time travel thing and go to the future and bring back the finished cookies!

That's the plan. I'll bring back the finished gingerbread so we can hop right to frostin' it, but I have to cut the dough and put it in the oven first off.

[ THEN, CHEATING ]

[ It's called using everything within your power to get things done, and if that power is a cheating power, then so be it. There's some Dave somewhere who had to wait through the entire baking time, but that's not Mafuyu's problem, who waits her patient fraction of a second. ]

Still the coolest power. You can skip right through the school day and have all the notes written already...! [ If she could choose a power, it might be this one; there never seems like enough time in the day to do everything that she wants. ]

It's cool enough to frost now, right? I've got red and— [ there used to be white frosting, but she's dyed it all red ] Red!

[ AFTER A MINUTE TO DO HIS TIME SHENANIGANS I AM NOT EXPLAINING IN DETAIL!!! ]

Red and red works, red is obviously the best color?

It's the best color!

[ No arguments here! Their rocket ship's going to have to be a box instead of a log because curved gingerbread is impossible, but after setting up two walls and a roof on top of a base, letting go, and watching everything fall right over, maybe this is impossible too... ]

How do you make the cookies stay? Here, set everything up again and don't let go, I'm going to try something.

The icing usually connects them, but okay.

[ Icing is she was leaning towards too; she makes sure all the edges are aligned properly and then. fills the entire inside of their gingerbread rocket with icing, it cannot collapse if there is no empty space inside to collapse in on. I really hope nobody tries to eat this. ]

[ To all their friends, icing rockets and glitter bomb cards... Truly they are blessed to know Dave Strider and Mafuyu Kurosaki.

Mafuyu hands over the icing to Dave so he can cover the outside with red as well, while she rummages around the candy bowls for things to decorate with and/or pocket for later. ]

What d'you think about using lollipops for mounted canons? We can use the chocolate bars on the sides as armor plating for our ship too!
