[ What normal-sounding memories. Good? That's good. For some reason, he thought her hallucinomemories would be a little more like his. Monsters, ghosts, and gods, swords and fighting. It's reasonable to expect that one's cousin might experience some memory overlap.
... Isn't it? ]
School's for the sake of your future, not your hallucinomemories.
[ OBLIGATORY REBUTTAL. Anyway. ]
Did any of those memories seem a little... supernatural to you?
[ She wishes she had those sorts of memories, more than the handful of mundane ones she had so far, because maybe that meant she were destined for much greater things than sitting in a classroom. ]
I was haunted by a creepy floating face? Like this. [ She raises her hands and sticks them up on top of her head: rabbit ears. ] Does that count?
[ And because no one associates "creepy floating face" with "rabbit", he thinks that maybe she's indicating horns...? He moves past her and into the kitchen, where he digs up a pencil and a scrap of paper to draw on. ]
Like this...?
[ He begins to sketch a quick oni head. Pretend it's less detailed than that but he isn't a bad artist at all okay. ]
[ She slaps her hand down on the paper and pulls it towards her, flipping it over to scribble on the other side of it. If it were an oni mask, she would have worn it everywhere, for no reason whatsoever. This one though...
She turns the paper around and holds it up proudly.
Of course they're ears. See, they're round. [ She motions to like... the sides of the ears, they're sort of round there, and then traces her fingers over the crosses in the eyes. ] And it had shining eyes, like that.
[ If it'd happened right here and now, Mafuyu probably wouldn't have hesitated in punching whoever it was, but there was no such confidence that gripped her in that memory. ]
No... The feeling was of somebody indestructible. I would have died.
Yeah, really huge! They were wearing a suit, and— here, I'll just draw it out for you!
[ Please stop her at any point in grabbing the sheet back and drawing, because 1) she's tiny and everybody else is huge by comparison, 2) she was not granted with those artistic genes, 3) it's not even to scale, 4) what does this even explain, 5) i could go on forever ]
[ Yato sees no reason to stop her drawing?? And this time, he's too surprised by the UTTER SIZE DIFFERENCE to dwell on how this drawing looks like it was done by a 5 year old. ]
Whoa, that is huge.
[ Someone that huge wearing a stupid mask like that really is creepy... maybe Mafuyu has a point. ]
If anyone too much to fight comes at you, you come find me, okay? We'll take 'em on together.
[ She hasn't really met anybody too much to fight in his life, so Mafuyu just sort of shrugs that off, thinking she can take care of herself just fine. The real enemies to her are teachers, not wearing masks but dishing out unfair grades and too much homework Yato can't exactly help her with unless he hides under her desk and whispers answers to her from there. ]
Where am I supposed to find you? If I text you, I'm just going to get my phone taken.
Put me on speed dial or something and ring me up when no one's looking! If I hear weird noises, I'll come to school.
[ Look this is more important to him now since CERTAIN PEOPLE could possibly be turning into out-of-control coffin monsters and blowing things up. And more weird powers could be showing up soon. You just don't know in this day and age... ]
[ Yato could go for a party platter of tacos himself... but that's beside the point. He taps the end of his pencil against his chin. Maybe the younger crowd is less prone to crazy hallucinomemories? ]
You know at least one person with weird powers. When I came in, you didn't notice me right away, did you?
[ Silently, suspiciously, Mafuyu narrows her eyes at Yato. No, she didn't notice, for trying to get her dog to sit still and shut up, for zooming in on those cupcakes before Yato himself. But that's... normal? She didn't think much of him suddenly turning up at her house in the first place, because he's always gone around doing whatever he wanted just like she does. ]
I didn't see you at all. You're saying... a friend of mine turned you invisible? Who is it?
[ It can't be Yato. Because she's normal, so he has to be normal. Because they're family. ]
[ ... Not quite connecting the dots, he sees. He can't really blame her. If she showed up saying she could fly, he'd be a little skeptical too. When you've known someone all your life, your perception of them resists change. ]
Well, it's more like I turned me invisible. Not on purpose. It's just how I am now. If Uncle and Auntie walked in right now, I doubt they'd notice me.
Mafuyu takes a step back, continuing to pin Yato down with a stare. How does one just accidentally turn himself invisible, and selectively at that? She'd like to believe him, but not without proof; it's with that amount of faith that she can give him some benefit of doubt and turn her head slowly towards the stairs, eyes staying on Yato the entire time. ]
MOM!! THERE'S A BURGLAR DOWNSTAIRS!! HELP!!!
[ Without missing a beat, "Use the kitchen knife!" dear mother shouts back from the floor above, and then silence. ]
[ Yato has no doubt that Mafuyu conditioned her mom to react this way... And honestly Yato wouldn't be as worried for Mafuyu as most high school girls her age if she encountered a burglar. The burglar might be more freaked out by her than she by him...
And upstairs they go! ]
Let me go up first.
[ He can walk around in his aunt's room and roll around on her bed and root through her stuff in front of her or something!! ]

[ Just neater. And better. Mafuyu picks up the paper and holds it up to her face to speak from behind it like a mask. ]
I'm Mr. BunBun! Give me cupcakes or I'll suck out your soul!
[ Usa-chan Man returns. ]

This is what's been haunting you?
[ How silly. But it's a relief, he thinks, that she seems to have harmless memories. ]

[ Mafuyu slaps the sheet of paper across Yato's face. It's just a flimsy sheet of paper but maybe he'll get a paper cut from it, idk. ]

[ Maybe she should just not go to school, problem solved. ]
no subject
... Who knows? Dangerous stuff might go on anywhere. It's best to be prepared! Don't you know anyone who's showing up with weird powers?
no subject
[ Shrinking aside, Mafuyu's had a wonderfully bland SOL existence so far, it's been great. ]
Oh- I went out with Kaz once and he could eat half a party platter of tacos by himself. Is that sort of a weird power?
[ She ate the other half, but ]

Only if he wasn't tootin' the place up afterward.
