its not too strong! they sell things like soda cans too and those can explode if you shake them up enough. i can come to school when classes end and meet you in the parking lot and show you then!
AKA like right now, in the parking lot after school the next day like she promised, only instead of carrying a backpack so she can at least pretend she sat in classes, she's got nothing but a soccer ball she's dribbling on her knees, and a can of soda in one hand that she almost keeps forgetting and opening it to take a sip. ]
[ When classes are over, Daisuke heads over to the parking lot with his schoolbag. He remembered to bring the sandwiches and double checked to make sure he still has them in his bag. He thinks it's Mafuyu in the parking lot because she said that she'd be there, but the colors are... different. It's been a long time since he's seen her in person too. ]
[ Ughh... Silver hair and purple eyes are so ANIME. People are caring less and less but that doesn't include Mafuyu, who doesn't want to stand out in that sort of way. But it's October, so she catches the ball in her hands— the can of soda clatters to the ground, but that's fine, she'll just kick it along to keep the fizz going as she walks up to Daisuke. ]
Yeah, it's me! I was trying some stuff out for Halloween, so I didn't see you around school today.
[ He's heard of people's hair and eyes changing color before, but there's also the fact that it's October and the possibility of very eager people who can't wait until the 31st. He remembers her text though, saying that she'll drop by after school, so she probably didn't attend classes anyway... that's what he thinks. ]
I almost couldn't recognize you because of the... [ Uh. ] different colors.
[ But he'll leave the school attendance topic alone. He digs into his schoolbag and gets out several sandwiches. Even though they agreed on one sandwich for three bullets, it seems kind of a waste cost-wise, so he happened to get more. They're small anyway. ]
[ That's a nice way of putting it, and Mafuyu doesn't mind leaving that topic behind as she pats around her pockets for her half of the exchange. ...That will have to be an IOU, because she remembered the soda, and that she was meeting here for a late lunch courtesy of Daisuke, but none of the details.
She bends down to pick up the can, and switches it with the sandwiches (naturally, all of them) in Daisuke's hand. On top of that, she takes out one of the things she does have in her pockets: a pack of mentos mints. ]
We're going to make this thing explode. Where d'you think is a good place?
Maybe the schoolyard? If we hit one of the cars in the parking lot, we might have to pay up for damages...
[ He looks down at the soda can. It feels like it'll explode any minute by how dense it feels... his mind is associating it with an actual bomb. It's kinda scary.
... Well, he can always get the bullets another time. It's not like he absolutely needs them anyway. He gives her a small gesture to start walking over to the schoolyard. ]
[ The schoolyard's a good idea, and it gives her another one that prompts her to start running towards the schoolyard instead of walking, leaving Daisuke to follow while shouting back up at him between mouthfuls of sandwich: ]
How high do you think I can punt it into the air?!
[ She's been disappointed twice re. exploding paint cans, so this time, how about we put a little energy into it to help kickstart that explosion. ]
[ When Mafuyu starts running, Daisuke follows while running too. It's a bit hard to discern what she's saying with all that food in her mouth, but he thinks he gets what she said. ]
Probably... like a home run?!
[ Honestly, he thinks that if the can explodes, it would at least act like a rocket to help propel itself further. But then again, Daisuke doesn't have the best grades in science either, so it's not like he would know. ]
[ Mafuyu doesn't have those science grades either, but she does like setting things on fire and watching things explode. She slows to a stop once there're squarely in the center of the grassy lawn and motions Daisuke to set the can on the ground. ]
Okay, you gotta move fast: open the can, stick the mints inside, and seal the opening with the foil wrapper— then stand back, 'cause then it's my turn.
[ Mafuya has to crouch down low to pull of her soccer bicycle kick, so she gets into position first, and then unwraps the mints, shaking them out and leaving the wrapper as intact and unripped as she can so that it can form a good seal. ]
[ After getting confirmation from Mafuyu, he readies the mints in one hand and opens the can with the other. As expected, the soda is already spurting, but Daisuke tries to shove as many mints into the can as possible before sealing it with the wrapper. All this took... surprisingly, very quickly. Perhaps his reflexes improved? (It did) But with that, Daisuke quickly backs away from the can and is almost anxious to see what will happen to it. ]
[ Mafuyu, on the other hand, waits a fraction of a second too long for not wanting to catch Daisuke on the nose. Her foot barely connects with the can when iT EXPLODES ON CONTACT LIKE A GODDAMN BOMB, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING, OF COURSE IT'S GOING TO END IN A BLAST OF SODA AND FIZZY MINT AND BUBBLING FOAM AND SHARDS OF FOIL SHRAPNEL
none of it even reaches the sky like sweet soda pop fireworks, it just sprays all over the both of them here on the ground ]
[ Daisuke didn't expect that, but his reflexes kick in without him being conscious of them and he manages to dodge all the solids. However, he can't get out of the way of the soda, so he just... wipes his face with his sleeve. ]
That... didn't go so well.
[ He's a bit disappointed that he didn't get to see it shoot into the sky, but... what can you do, right> ]
[ There's really nothing Mafuyu can do to salvage that, so she heads right for the sprinklers to turn them on. There are probably bathrooms just as nearby, but nah. ]
Maybe we [ she ] shouldn't skimp on the soda next time and buy a bottle instead of a can. We'll try again tomorrow!
[ Daisuke thinks about this and wonders if he should bring a change of clothes tomorrow too... ]
But do we really need to kick it to launch it? If it's a bottle, we can probably pull off some science fair thing with it. It's a lot easier than a can at least.
[ ... ]
Also, don't forget to bring the bullets that you said you'd trade me.
[ He thought about going grocery shopping before heading home, but he can't exactly go while feeling sticky from dried soda. And it feels gross. He really needs a shower. ]

We got this, Daisuke. Let's go.

Never mind science— I forgot about the bullets! What're you going to do with them? Do you have a gun?
[ Can I play with the gun? Can we go shooting clay targets with that gun you so obviously have? ]
no subject
Well, no...
[ How should he explain this-- ]
--It's a secret.

You can tell me! I can keep a secret! I won't tell anybody!!
